The majority of KRCC’s music programming falls under the “MUSIC MIX” heading. If we were forced to provide a recipe for the MUSIC MIX, it might look something like this: 5 parts Rock (the alternative type, not the Bob Seger type), 1 part Folk, 1 part International, 1 part Alt-Country, 1 part Electronica, with a dash of New Age, Blues, Jazz and Reggae.
KRCC also has a number of SPECIALTY Music Shows, including:
BLUE PLATE SPECIAL: (Weekdays at Noon, Blues from the past the century)
THE BRICK HOUSE (Mondays at 8PM, Soul, Funk, Disco, House… from classics to yesterday)
PLANET GROOVE (Tuesdays at 8PM, Music from around the globe, Acid Jazz, and anything groovy)
LOST HIGHWAY (Wednesdays at 8PM, Bluegrass, Alt. Country, Folk, Cowboy Music)
JAZZ: (Thursdays 8PM to Midnight From classic to contemporary...)
VINTAGE VOLTAGE with GT (Saturdays at 8PM, Five decades worth of Oldies)
OSCILLATION PROPAGATION (Saturdays at 10pm, Techno, House, Tech-House, Deep House)
THE CELTIC SHOW: (Sundays at 7PM, KRCC features the music of Ireland and Scotland)
THE REGGAE SHOW: (Sunday from 9:30PM to Midnight)
At KRCC, we have no pre-programmed DJ set lists. The music you hear on KRCC is the announcer’s choice. Unlike many stations, the announcers at KRCC determine whether an album is in LIGHT, MEDIUM or HEAVY rotation based on their choice to play that album. Essentially, the only constraints KRCC announcers have is that they must play four new releases every hour–their pick, and they must abide by the program’s genre (i.e. Jazz for Jazz shows).
