Tracey is a volunteer host at KRCC. She describes her music taste as “eclectic” – from classical to zydeco. Her passion is jazz. Tracey became a jazz enthusiast in 1971, after hearing the allure of rhythm and horns drifting from a backstage door, infusing a chilly autumn night with sound – and a chance encounter with Duke Ellington. “He didn’t even look up,” says Tracey. “He was moving past with his entourage and admirers – not a tall man in the physical sense – but he was bigger than life. I was 17 years old, and I thought a god had passed by. I’ll never forget it.”
Tracey is a project manager for a global software company and is writing a mystery novel. She and her husband Roger have lived in Colorado Springs for 30 years.
