The Hayden Pass Fire near Coaldale, Sunday 7/10/16

Tuesday's post for this incident is here.

The so-called Hayden Pass Fire burning in Fremont County has reached around 12,000 acres.  It's burning in heavy dead and downed fuels and rugged terrain with hot and windy conditions.

The lightening-caused fire began on the San Isabel National Forest and has moved into the Rio Grande National Forest; the fire is currently burning on the two forests, as well as Bureau of Land Management land, state lands and private lands.

Evacuations are in place for County Road 6, south of County Road 45, as well as County Road 40.  This includes the Fox Creek subdivision.  Two Forest Service campgrounds have also been evacuated—the Hayden Creek Campground and Cutty's Resort.

Large animals can be taken to the Chaffee County Fair Grounds.  An evacuation shelter has opened at the Howard Fire Station.

A Type 2 incident command team has been called in and is expected to arrive late this afternoon and assume command at 6 AM on Tuesday.
