Governor John Hickenlooper today issued a proclamation that temporarily renames Colorado’s 14ers after members of the Denver Broncos.  According to a press release from the governor’s office, the state’s tallest peaks will go by their new names for one day only, this Sunday when the Broncos play against the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

Pikes Peak has been renamed for tight end Joel Dreessen, who is the only player on the Bronco roster to have graduated from a Colorado university.  Mount Elbert, Colorado’s tallest mountain, will don Peyton Manning’s name for a day, while Longs Peak will be renamed for Matt Prater.  The Bronco kicker holds the NFL record for the longest field goal.
