Reporter Roundtable: Same-Sex Marriage in Colorado’s Courts

A federal judge in Denver said Colorado’s gay marriage ban is unconstitutional and three county clerks have been issuing marriage licenses in the state. Bente Birkeland talks to statehouse reporters about the changes and what it means politically.

A ruling came down today from the Colorado Supreme Court ordering Denver’s clerk to stop issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples while the state’s ban against the unions remains in place.  The decision does not force Boulder or Pueblo County clerks, who have also been issuing the licenses, to stop, though Pueblo County clerk Gilbert Ortiz says he’s reviewing the ruling.
