State Fair Opens in Pueblo; More than 500,000 Expected

Aug 26, 2016

The 144th Colorado State Fair officially opens Friday in Pueblo, and organizers expect more than 500,000 people to attend.

Sarah Cummings stepped into the role of the Fair's new general manager earlier this year. She says she's spent the last seven months studying how it operates.

"My goal for this year is really to take time, analyze the run of the fair," she says, "and be able to implement some positive and productive changes in 2017."

Cummings says fairgoers can look forward to the "Wizard's Challenge," which is a hands-on science exhibit, a sea lion show, and strolling cowboy characters, along with traditional fair activities.

The Fair runs through Monday, September 5th.
