- The Colorado House has given initial approval to a sales tax increase and bond ballot issue aimed at generating billions of dollars for transportation. Democrats approved the bill on a party-line vote. The bill could generate more than $13 billion over 20 years to help tackle a $9-billion-and-growing backlog in roads projects.

- Homebuilders, ranchers and others are again asking the federal government to lift wildlife protections for a long-tailed mouse found in Colorado and Wyoming. A petition filed with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service revives a claim that the Preble's meadow jumping mouse is not a distinct species but essentially the same as other, more plentiful mice. The agency has 90 days to respond.
