- In a move intended to allow future development in the area to pay for improvements, the Colorado Springs City Council this week approved the creation of three special districts on the downtown's southwest side that would fund up to $330 million in improvements to the area over two decades. The funding would come from future taxes paid by businesses that locate in the districts, according to a report in the Pueblo Chieftain.
- Security personnel at the U.S. Air Force Academy are investigating racial slurs written on message boards outside the dormitory rooms of five black students at a preparatory school on the academy campus. Racial slurs are illegal in the military and can bring charges of violating orders and conduct unbecoming an officer.
