With the recent success of public radio shows like This American Life and Radiolab, as well as the proliferation of podcasts on the internet, it's hard to imagine a time when high quality radio storytelling and journalism was as available as it is now. But, given its status as one of the oldest and simplest forms of mass media, the fact that radio continues to thrive in our rapidly changing, novelty-obsessed world is something of a feat. In this episode of Off Topic, we ask why it is that radio has proven so durable, and we explore the past, present, and future of this beloved medium.
