Denver, Aug. 30, 2023 - Colorado Public Radio has purchased the building located at 777 Grant Street in Denver, which will eventually become its new headquarters. This building is an exciting investment in CPR’s future as a vital and sustainable source of local news, music and cultural experiences for Coloradans.
This purchase is the first step toward CPR’s commitment to establish itself as an institution and destination with facilities that ignite the creativity and productivity of its talent and inspire the engagement and support of the community.

At the center of our commitment to serve all Coloradans and support democracy is a new home for CPR,” said Stewart Vanderwilt, president and CEO of CPR. “With our new facility, we will create a home institution for all Coloradans to experience news, entertainment and thought-provoking content. This new space will strengthen our role as a watchdog over power. It will also strengthen connections with the public, providing accessible pathways to reliable news, fostering civic engagement, and providing a venue for performances that celebrate art, storytelling, music and community.”
The location and attributes of 777 Grant will meet CPR’s current and future needs as it continues to expand its journalistic enterprise to be Colorado’s home institution for news. The 72,000-square-foot building has room to expand CPR’s news operation significantly and consolidate all Denver-based operations including CPR News, CPR Classical, Indie 102.3, Denverite, the Audio Innovations podcast studio and all related activities.
“Investing in the adaptive reuse of an existing building is a purposeful choice we’ve made to be cost-effective and minimize climate impact,” added Vanderwilt. “This location is also deliberate: we’re investing in the vibrancy of Colorado’s capital city and placing our headquarters where our news teams will have access to the seats of power — and more people will be able to enjoy destination experiences at our facility.”
With the purchase complete, CPR will begin work on the design, phasing and fundraising to transform 777 Grant into its new home. Philanthropy and generosity are what make CPR’s work possible. The transaction was a cash purchase with philanthropic funds designated for capital investment.
The identification and purchase of a new CPR headquarters was guided by a Facilities Task Force of the Colorado Public Radio board of directors. Victor Frandsen, Sean Whitney and Clay Jones of Newmark Group represented CPR in the transaction, and Patrick Devereaux of CBRE represented the sellers, Littleton Capital Partners, who will initially manage the property. OZ Architecture, Marx/Okubo Associates, Inc. and Louise Staab at Robinson, Waters, & O'Dorisio, P.C. advised CPR in this transaction.
