Last week, the Biden Administration proposed reclassifying cannabis as a less-dangerous drug and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer discussed his support for two bills: One that would allow banks to lend money to cannabis businesses, and another that would end the federal ban on marijuana altogether. The proposed changes come ten years after the first sale of legalized recreational marijuana for adults ages 21 and older in Colorado.
We discuss these developments and Colorado's decade-old cannabis law with Ricardo Baca, the first-ever cannabis editor of the Denver Post, who's now CEO of Grasslands, a communications firm that works with the cannabis industry. We're also joined by Sam Kamin, a professor at the University of Denver law school who helped implement Amendment 64, which Colorado voters approved in 2012 to legalize recreational pot.
